3 Poems About Hiking To Catch Some Gorgeous Views

Stomping up and down mountains is a great way to keep fit, enjoy some good fresh air, and connect with the outside world. But what do you do if your trainers are busted, your Achilles tendon is giving you problems, or the weather is just too awful to get outside? You read poems about hiking, of course!

Hiking is a wonderful outdoors pursuit, where people can enjoy feeling the breeze on their face, as well as catching sight of some gorgeous views and scenery, at the same time as getting fit. It’s also a great way to socialize and meet new people, explore new areas – or just give the dog something different to sniff at! However, the day may come when you don’t actually want to go for a hike, but you still enjoy thinking about it. This is where poetry can come in. Poems can open our minds and inspire us to try new things, as well as make us feel that we are still enjoying our favorite hobby, even without physically doing it!

Poetry can be incredibly inspirational, and you may find that after reading poems about hiking that you have discovered a new and exciting route, or learned about some new equipment or techniques. Also, don’t feel that you can only read poems about your favorite hobby when you’re not actually hiking – you can even bring a book with you, and read as you go! It’s also a great way to connect with other people; have a go at reading a few poems out to your favorite hiking buddy, and you may well both get even more enjoyment out of it. Who knows – maybe you will even be inspired to pick up a pen yourself, and write a few odes to the fresh air and the walking trails?

In the Heart of Nature

Author: F. Koole

Through tangled woods and whispering trees,
I walk where sunlight dapples leaves.
The path is rough, but so alive—
Each step a breath, each climb a dive.
The breeze it hums a song so sweet,
While earth’s cool pulse beats 'neath my feet.
The scent of pine, of moss, of dew,
Awakens dreams of skies so blue.
A river’s laughter fills the air,
It dances on without a care.
I pause to listen, feel, and know,
In nature’s arms, I’m free to grow.
Above, the peaks reach for the skies,
As clouds drift by with soft goodbyes.
In every stone, in every stream,
I find a piece of life’s own dream.
So let me wander, wild and free,
Among the woods, the hills, the sea.
For here, where nature speaks so clear,
I find my soul, my heart—my cheer.

Among the Mountains

Author: P. Nicolu

High above the valleys deep,
I climb where ancient giants sleep.
The path is steep, the air is thin,
But here is where the world begins.
The wind, it whispers bold and clear,
A voice that only mountains hear.
It sweeps across the jagged peaks,
Through silent stones where time still speaks.
I feel the sky pull close and bright,
The clouds like veils of glowing light.
Each step I take, the earth below
Sings of a strength few ever know.
The crispness of the morning air
Fills every breath with life and care.
With each ascent, my spirit soars,
For up here, freedom opens doors.
The peaks rise sharp against the blue,
Where heaven seems within my view.
In quiet awe, I stand and see
The world laid bare, wild and free.
Among the mountains tall and wide,
I find the place where dreams reside.
No road below, no rush, no sound—
Just peace, and life, and sacred ground.

Hiking in Love

Author: S. Dennis

We walk together, hand in hand,
Through winding trails and quiet land.
The earth beneath, the sky above—
Each step a journey bound in love.
The path is steep, but we don't mind,
For in each other, strength we find.
We pause to breathe, to laugh, to be,
Two souls entwined in harmony.
The breeze plays soft upon your face,
I feel the warmth of your embrace.
Your eyes, they shine like stars at night,
Guiding me through the mountain's height.
With every step, our hearts align,
Like rivers flowing, intertwined.
The world around us fades away,
It’s just us two, in love's ballet.
Through forests deep and meadows wide,
We wander on, with love our guide.
And though the trail may twist and bend,
I know with you, there's no end.
For love is like this hike we take—
Through every hill, through every break,
We walk as one, we rise above,
Forever hiking, led by love.
